Berlin experiences impressive cooperation between people with and without impairments in the shift change project.

District City Councilor Tobias Dollase took part again in the “Shift Change” project. People with and without impairment exchange their jobs for one day and thus gain new impressions and get to know new perspectives.

In the morning, Dollase visited the house and garden group of Lwerk Berlin Brandenburg, a social craft and service company for people with impairments, and supported a team of gardeners in their work. He then welcomed Mr. Olaf Hollstein (61), who has been working as a driver and in the area of recycling at the Hohenschönhausen location for twelve years. Hollstein is involved in the company as a member of the workshop council and is interested in politics. The day in the district office impressed him, says Hollstein. Through the conversations, he found out that "how complicated and diverse the work is, but also how difficult it must be for a city council to meet all different requirements." District City Councilor Dollase is also impressed, with a lot of commitment people pursue their work.

District City Councilor Dollase: "I experience how appreciation inspires. From the network from the company and the factory, the economy benefits at the same time, so I would be happy to support it to make the shift change even better known."

"Shift change" is an action by the State Working Group on Werkstätten for Disabled People e.V. (LAG WFBM) and the State Working Group of the Workshop Councilor Berlin (LAG-WR Berlin) and takes place annually.
