Telekom vs. Höcke: Objection to advertising logan dating
Deutsche Telekom has vigorously rejected a statement by the AfD politician Björn Höcke regarding a earlier advertising slogan of the company and is considering legal steps. Höcke, who acts as the top candidate of the AfD for the state election in Thuringia, claimed in a TV duel with the CDU politician Mario Voigt that Telekom had used the sentence "Everything for Germany" as an advertising logan in the past. Telekom rejected this claim to be wrong and stated that it was legally checked.
The sentence "Everything for Germany" in question is a forbidden slogan of the SA, the paramilitary organization of the NSDAP. Due to the use of this slogan in a speech, Höcke will have to be responsible for the accusation of the use of the license plate.
Last year, Telekom had already acted against AfD federal spokeswoman Alice Weidel after making similar statements regarding the advertising slogan. Telekom asked Weidel to refrain these claims, whereupon Weidel assured that this would refuse to do so in the future.
In the TV duel, Höcke, who is a history teacher himself, defended his choice of words and claimed that during the speech he did not know that it was a SA slogan. He described the sentence as a "common saying". The German Press Agency (dpa) reported on these developments.
