SPD in Brandenburg: A win with a view to future challenges
Kevin Kühnert, the Secretary General of the SPD, celebrates a huge success: The “Chancellor's Party” conquers the state election in Brandenburg with fresh wind! In an interview with Phoenix, Kühnert beams with pride. "This is an encouragement to the whole party, which was done there yesterday," he emphasizes.
But the mood could not look more contrary for the CDU! Her "Chancellor candidate in Spe" suffers a crashing defeat that is anything but calming for the party. Kühnert leaves no doubt that the SPD now wants to implement "open projects from the coalition agreement such as the pension package and the tariff loyalty law". The traffic light coalition is faced with the challenge of coming to a common denominator in the coming weeks.
economic engine crank up again
But that's not all! Kühnert knows that Germany needs an economic engine that gets more running again. "You really sin on the chances of this country," he warns, "if you only pick the negative examples and say the country is consecrated. That is complete cocolor!" Instead, he calls for a constructive dialogue about the competitiveness of the country, energy prices and wage costs. "We saw in Brandenburg: With these topics, social democracy can win elections," Kühnert calls the round.
The challenges are huge, but with a clear plan and a motivated party, the SPD could go very much into the future. The whole interview with Kevin Kühnert is available online at www.phoenix.de
