Lake conference 2024: Protection and future of our waters in focus

An important event is just around the corner! The 2024 lake conference, a great meeting that is devoted to the preservation of our valuable waters, takes place in the grandiose Villa Elisabeth in Berlin. On 14. November 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the time has finally come. Under the motto "Living Lakes for a Living Future", numerous environmental protection organizations have come together to put urgent topics on the agenda to protect lakes and wetlands.

The initiative is none other than the global nature find , supported by well-known partners such as the green league and the NABU Federal Committee committee living lakes . This celebrates the 15th anniversary of the network of living lakes Germany. A clear sign of how important the rescue and protection of our freshwater ecosystems are!

The conference is divided into three exciting parts. The first section deals with national and international programs to protect and restore our freshwater ecosystems. These programs are of particular importance because they are crucial for the preservation of biological diversity.

This is followed by a critical look at the lake and water policy in Berlin: Current developments on the Groß Glienicker See and Weißen Lake are involved here. The findings from Berlin politics promise to give valuable impulses for local projects.

The third section is devoted to the scientific and civil society assessments of the state of the lakes in Germany. What adjustments are necessary to counter climate change? Specific project examples show what action looks like!
