School Prize 2025: Marzahn-Hellersdorf honors committed educational talents!
On Monday, November 3rd, 2025, the annual Marzahn-Hellersdorf school prize was awarded in a celebratory ceremony. Around 30 committed people from the education sector received awards for their special commitment to schools. The award winners included members of support associations, educational teaching assistants, kitchen specialists and school teachers, caretakers and parent representatives. This diversity shows the broad commitment that is necessary to have a positive influence on the educational environment, report Berlin.de.
The award ceremony took place for the fifth time and was held in the “Green Stage” in Hellersdorf. 19 schools actively participated in the selection of nominees. Primary and secondary schools in particular, including those with a specialization focus, were represented. The schools had the opportunity to select the nominees themselves in advance, which made the selection process conducive and transparent.
Organizer and award ceremony
The district office of Marzahn-Hellersdorf and the state of Berlin took on a representative role in the selection process. The prizes were presented by important personalities, including Cathrin Braun from the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family, Norman Heise from the State Parents' Committee and Stefan Bley, the district councilor for schools. In addition to a certificate, the award winners also received special ceramics from the SCHAMOTTCHEN art and ceramics barn, which symbolizes schools in the district, such as the Mahlsdorfer elementary school and the Otto-Nagel-Gymnasium.
These awards not only reflect the appreciation shown to these committed individuals, but also how important community is in education. The term “vindicate,” meaning to prove or justify something, fits well with the efforts of these dedicated individuals, who often work behind the scenes to support teachers and students, explained digitally at Oxford Learners Dictionaries.
Context of the education system in Germany
The German education system offers a wide range of educational opportunities, ranging from early childhood education to adult education. A comprehensive presentation of the education system is published annually by the German Eurydice Information Center, which has been providing valuable information since 1993. This documentation, which also takes country-specific features into account, has developed into an important basic document about the federal education system in Germany. The last edition is for the year 2023/2024 and is aimed at interested positions abroad, explains the KMK.
Through this commitment and community support, it is clear that education is a process that is not only in the hands of teachers, but also benefits from the participation of many other actors. Events such as the awarding of the school prize are crucial in making this commitment visible and recognizing it.
