Digital information event on the future of the Borsig site industrial area

yesterday Tuesday (July 16) the digital information event of the Reinickendorf district was all about the future development of the Borsig site. Interested participants were presented to the results of the commercial frame planning, which aims to explore the potential and development opportunities of the area and to identify concrete measures for implementation.

The commercial framework plan, which was conceived as a supplement to the local economic area concept and was created by the renowned office Herwarth + Holz. In an intensive participation process with owners, companies, institutions and representatives from the administration and business, the foundations for a contemporary further development of the historic Borsig area were developed.

The district councilor Korinna Stephan underlines the relevance of the project: "The transformation of the Borsig site to a modern and resource-saving commercial and industrial location is of central importance for the economic future of the district. The constructive cooperation of all participants as part of this planning process shows what success can be achieved through common action."

The Borsig site looks back on over 200 years of industrial history and was once known for the production of locomotives and agricultural machinery. According to the Urban Development Plan Economic Affairs 2030, the area is to continue to be used for commercial and industrial purposes. In particular, the 31 hectares of the "Borsigdamm" are part of a comprehensive development concept for the production -shaped area.
