Anniversary: ​​Central Association for deaf-wing celebrates its 175th anniversary

Der Zentralverein für das Wohl der Taubstummen in Berlin e.V. feierte kürzlich sein 175-jähriges Bestehen. Anlässlich dieses Jubiläums lud der Verein zu einer feierlichen Veranstaltung in das Erholungs- und Freizeitheim der Gehörlosen in Heiligensee ein. Unter den Gästen befand sich auch Bezirksbürgermeisterin Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU), die im Namen des Bezirksamtes ihre Glückwünsche übermittelte. The central association for the well-being of the deaf and dumb in Berlin e.V. recently celebrated its 175th anniversary. On the occasion of this anniversary, the association invited to a solemn event in the recreation and leisure home of the deaf in Heiligensee. Among the guests were also district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU), who sent her congratulations on behalf of the district office.

The mayor emphasized the great importance of inclusion and support for people with hearing impairments in her greeting. She recalled the beginnings of the association, which founded the world's first deaf mating kindergarten in 1846 and later built the leisure and recreation home for deaf in 1974. This many years of support and commitment for deaf -sum people were expressly recognized at the event.

The mayor particularly emphasized the excellent work of the board of directors of the association. Brigitte Niklas as chairwoman, Karin Zell as second chair, Torsten Niklas as treasurer and Wolfgang Kubis as senior citizens' leaders were thanked with great respect for their commitment and leadership of the association.
