Funds approved: Historical coaches of the fire brigade saved

The district office Reinickendorf recently announced the gratifying news that the application for funding to secure the Hermsdorf coache on Heinsestrasse was approved. The decision that was sent yesterday is a significant milestone to preserve the historical building from decay.

The Hermsdorf coache, which is currently in a desolate state, is comprehensively renovated as part of the federal monument protection program. The funding application was submitted by the State Monument Office (LDA) to cover the cost of 2.3 million euros for maintenance. The funds are mainly used to restore the building and make usable for the Hermsdorf volunteer fire brigade, which does not have adequate rooms.

The expected assumption of costs by the federal government is about half of the total costs, which represents a significant contribution to the preservation of this historical building and to support the volunteer fire brigade.

District Councilor Korinna Stephan (B'90/Greens) emphasized the successful cooperation between the various institutions that led to this decision. She emphasized that it was of great importance not only to preserve the Hermsdorf coache, but also to provide the volunteer fire brigade suitable rooms, as it plays an important role in the community.

The cooperation between the Reinickendorf district office, Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM), the State Monument Office and the Hermsdorf volunteer fire brigade was particularly emphasized. Through intensive discussions in 2024, everyone involved was able to agree on a joint approach to maintain the Hermsdorf coache. The goal is to completely restore the historical building and adapt the needs of the volunteer fire brigade.
