Successful immigration along the forest page

In spring 2023, a total of 372 amphibians were collected during the migration along the forest side and brought safely to the banks of the Havel. It was mainly earth toads, but also some pond frogs and few ponds and grass frogs were recorded. Compared to previous years (2022: 161, 2021: 116), much more amphibians were saved this year. This is a positive sign of protecting the amphibian population.

Animals recorded on the back hike fence

on the back hike fence, which is on the banks of the Havel in early summer and summer, a total of 424 amphibians were recorded. Mostly these were earth toads that were brought back into the forest across the street. However, the number of returning animals was somewhat lower compared to the previous year, since there was no "rain in frog", in which over 2000 young animals were caught last year.

positive development and thanks to volunteers

Despite fluctuations in the fishing numbers, Julia Schrod-Thiel is happy about the positive development on Sandhauser Strasse. In the coming year, the amphibian protection fence will be set up again and looked after by volunteers. The district councilor thanked the volunteers who actively supported the district office. Without the support of the volunteers, the care of the amphibian protection fence would not have been possible over a longer period of time.
