The significant story of the Water Sports Association Heiligensee
For 75 years, the water sports enthusiasts from Heiligensee have been a fixture on the domestic waters. On Saturday, June 7th, they celebrated their anniversary in Villa Felice. Among the guests were prominent well-wishers such as district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU) and representatives of various sports associations.
The Wassersportgemeinschaft Heiligensee was founded in 1949 as part of the fishing association and developed into an independent association in 1962. Since then she has devoted herself to canoe hiking and organizes regular paddling tours on the Berlin waters and travel to rivers and lakes at home and abroad.
The sports boat investor on Lake Tegel is currently being renovated and soon offers numerous lying places for sailing and motor boats as well as canoes and kayaks. These can be used free of charge and should further promote water sports in the region.
District Mayor Demirbüken-Wegner praised the commitment of the club members and emphasized the importance of water sports for the community in Reinickendorf. She promised to include water sports in the future tourism concept of the district and to strengthen it.
