Potsdam's Christmas magic: New splendor at Brandenburg's largest market!

The Christmas market in Potsdam city center, known as “Potsdam Christmas Magic”, is about to have a new beginning this year. In fact, the concept of the market is not only intended to offer visitors a new experience, but also to respond to the needs of citizens. Every year around a million people visit the largest Christmas market in the state of Brandenburg. In view of the increasing criticism, the organizers have fresh ideas. In the future, the market will open its doors from November 24th to December 28th, 2025, starting at 11 a.m. every day, with opening hours extended to 10 p.m. on weekends and 9 p.m. on other days. However, the market will remain closed on December 24th.

A key goal of the new concept is to create a welcoming atmosphere that attracts visitors. [rbb24]. becomes. In order to improve the offering, a new star alley will be introduced, which will serve as a place for meetings and creative exchange. This will be supported by the presentation of the “Star Forge”, where products from regional newcomers and creatives will change weekly.

New lighting concept and attractions

A significant aspect of the new concept is the lighting design. The Berlin company Boehlke worked with the organizers to develop a new lighting concept that is intended to create an atmospheric and festive atmosphere. In addition to accompanying stands, luminous spanners and fairy lights, this also includes tree lighting and striking light portals. Particularly noteworthy are the “Potsdam light stars”, which are used as an identity-creating element. The main locations of the market are Luisenplatz and Bassinplatz, with Brandenburger Straße also being festively staged with special lighting elements. Luisenplatz is illuminated, among other things, by festively staged fountains and a large Christmas tree. Visual highlights, such as the colored illumination of the Brandenburg Gate and a glowing carriage, complement the overall picture.

Two permanently installed stages are planned for the cultural performances. These will provide a platform for local choirs, dance groups and professional artists. The organizers, Bernd Rubelt (councillor), Stefan Frerichs (head of economic development) and Christian Jüttner (market operator), are committed to integrating the citizens' wishes into the new concept. Thanks to these measures, the “Potsdam Christmas Magic” will not only be a feast for the eyes, but also a place where community and art can develop. This commitment should be viewed against the background that Christmas markets in Germany attract millions of visitors. So it is not surprising that the ADAC presents a wide range of beautiful Christmas markets in the country ADAC.

The combination of traditional flair and modern design is intended to give the Christmas market in Potsdam a special charm that delights both locals and tourists. The anticipation for the opening of the “Potsdam Christmas Magic” is growing and will certainly warm many hearts.
