New reform to relieve emergency rooms: an important step towards better acute care
Reimann on the Emergency Act: A first step in the right direction
On the occasion of today's cabinet, Dr. Carola Reimann, the CEO of the AOK Federal Association, on the planned emergency law (emergency). She emphasizes that the initiative of the traffic light government to cope with the chronic overload of emergency rooms in Germany is a sensible and correct step. The law is intended to improve the accessibility of the acute care and the path to the necessary outpatient rating is intended.
A central aspect of the emergency law are the planned acute control centers and the introduction of integrated emergency centers (INZ) in hospitals. These are intended to ensure that patients will receive structured and regulated access to acute medical care services in the future.
Nevertheless, Reimann emphasizes that the emergency law must not be considered in isolation, but must be implemented in the context of further reform laws, in particular the hospital reform (KHVVVG). This is the only way to ensure successful outpatientness of emergency care.
Reimann also emphasizes that outpatient care for your role in acute care must also be prepared. In view of the tight personnel resources, these should be used in a targeted manner and the supply orders are bindingly defined. In addition, the supply of the specific needs should be oriented.
However, Reimann also expresses concerns about some aspects of the law. It criticizes the planned expansion of medically questionable checkup examinations and disease management programs because they would go in the wrong direction. It pleads for focusing on the needs -based and high -quality supply.
In addition, Reimann calls for a quick and comprehensive integration of the emergency services into the emergency law. In their opinion, the planned reform of the rescue centers should be conceptually integrated into the law in order to create a holistic concept to improve emergency care.
The statements of Dr. Carola Reimann illustrates that the emergency law is a first step in the right direction to tackle the chronic overload of emergency rooms in Germany. However, in order to achieve sustainable success, further reform laws, in particular the hospital reform, should also be taken into account and the emergency services should be included in the planning.
