New opening hours and improved service orientation: The reorganization of the museum collection
There is exciting news at the Reinickendorf Museum: The museum's archive and library are receiving a new collection concept, developed by librarian Dr. Dirk Wissen is looked after. The aim of this restructuring is to provide better access and more service orientation for research requests. As a first step, the opening times of the archive and the library will be extended. Anyone interested can now visit the archive on Mondays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The new opening hours are intended to ensure that the extensive knowledge of around 4,000 titles, including historical books, is even more easily accessible to the public. City Councilor for Culture Harald Muschner (CDU) emphasizes the importance of the archive as a contact point for anyone who wants to find out more about the district's cultural, social or industrial history.
The archive and library of the Reinickendorf Museum contain original holdings and research materials on the art and history of the district. The collection includes a variety of materials such as photographs, cartographies, postcards, newspapers, maps, certificates and other original documents. The archive also houses the estate of personalities such as the artist Hannah Höch (1889-1978), the doctor Wladimir Lindenberg (1902-1997) and the artist Billy Jenkins (1885-1954). In addition, you can also find books and information materials about other influential personalities who either lived or worked in Reinickendorf, as well as company legacies.
