New primary school on Koppelweg: starting signal for 87 new learners in Neukölln!
The elementary school on Koppelweg in Neukölln began regular operations on September 8, 2025. This new educational facility will close an existing gap in the district's educational offerings. A total of 87 children are taught in five cross-year learning groups, consisting of three groups in the 1st and 2nd grades and two groups in the 3rd and 4th grades. The official enrollment of the 38 beginners will take place next weekend in the presence of district mayor Martin Hikel reports Berlin.de.
The newly built school building is built according to the modern compartment principle and offers space for a total of 432 students in grades 1 to 6. This barrier-free building is intended to relieve the burden on the Britz school district. The groundbreaking ceremony for construction took place in May 2023, and the completion of the school building coincided with the start of the school year. The plans for a primary school on Koppelweg go back to the 1990s. However, implementation was initially stopped due to a declining number of students.
