New footpath on the package grave: Cité Foch and Steinbergpark connected!

A new footpath project along the package grave in Berlin is to become a reality by mid -2026. The approximately 250 meter long path will not only strengthen the connection between the Cité Foch residential area and the Steinberg Park, but also significantly improve the quality of life of the residents. On Saturday, January 25, 2025, interested citizens have the opportunity to find out about the planned measures at 12:00 p.m. at the Packeregraben bridge structure, as the Reinickendorf district office reports. The engineering office Sinnes.werk GmbH invites everyone involved to ask questions and contribute suggestions that are checked for their feasibility.

As part of the project, a new park along the package trench is also created, which, according to the update of Mein.berlin.de, takes into account the species and biotope protection. Appropriate reports are necessary for this, and the distance from the water must be observed. The planned route connection is up to the AV bridge. Charles de Gaulle extends, which enables the Steinberg Park to be easily accessible for the residents of the Cité Foch. This project is carried out in close coordination with the urban development department and should be completed by August 2026.

District Councilor Korinna Stephan von the Greens emphasizes the importance of this footpath connection for the urban infrastructure, while Julia Schrod-Thiel from the CDU sees the path as a significant step towards sustainable development of the Steinberg Park. The construction of the new path is funded by the European Fund of Regional Development and pursues the goal of strengthening green infrastructures and realizing climate protection measures. With all planned measures, the quality of stay in the park is further increased and the pedestrian accessibility for residents improves, which means an upgrading of the environment overall.
