Volunteering in Mitte: award for outstanding engagements 2024
A brilliant evening for the volunteers! On September 30, 2024, the Heilandskirche in the middle of the district was the scene of a special event: the day of volunteering ! District Mayor Stefanie Remlinger and district councilor Carsten Spallek made the hearts of those present beat faster by honestly focusing on the passion and dedication of committed citizens.
The glamorous honor of the volunteers shone in full shine when long -time members of the district social commissions were recognized for their invaluable commitment. These heroic people stand out tirelessly for the well -being of our senior citizens - true heroes of everyday life!
But that was far from everything! The highlight of the event was the awarding of the 19th honorary award 2024 , which recognizes the extraordinary achievements of creators from the middle of Berlin.
The beaming award winners: heroines in everyday life
The jury had the difficult task of selecting the highlights from the numerous applications. And these are the names that go into history with pride:
- Andreas Weiss - a name that stands for passion in football! Together with his daughter, his journey began at SV Blau Weiss Berolina Middle 49 e.V. Since then he has tirelessly enlarged the women's and girls' department of the association, which is now the largest in all of Berlin. Bravo!
- trans*sex works - a project that shines in the shade! Volunteers fought for the rights of sex workers around Kurfürstenstraße in Tiergarten-Süd by ensuring security and education in the dark hours. Your input is indispensable and magical moments guarantee!
- David Tilcher - a true all -rounder! Whether wood workshop, night café for homeless young people with a dog or organizing donations - David is everywhere and for everything! His heart beats for people in need, and that should be worth a price!
- A very special ray of hope is the "trialogue" , led by Jouanna Hassoun and Shai Hoffmann. These two visionaries do everything possible to promote the dialogue between Palestinians and Jews. They break the barriers and build numerous bridges for better togetherness!
District City Councilor Carsten Spallek thanked: "I am pleased that this year we were able to thank the volunteers of the Mitte district for their valuable work." This evening was a festival of recognition - the real heroes of our society came to the fore!
A thank you to all volunteers! These brilliant moments are proof that volunteering forms the backbone of our community. Working, inspiring and giving hope - the award winners and all the others stand for that every day!
