The construction work for the reconstruction of the Natur-Bobbahn in the Kienbergpark started shortly before Easter. From summer 2024, residents, Berliners and visitors to the park can roar down the Kienberg again at a speed of up to 40 kilometers per hour. Leitner GmbH has decided to rebuild and invests around 1.8 million euros in the project.
The Natur-Bobbahn is one of the largest attractions in the Kienberg Park and plays a central role in the revitalization of the park. While the train was out of operation last summer, its importance became particularly clear. Therefore, it is now being rebuilt with the latest technologies, new security systems and a more attractive course.
22 new bobs will be available that can be used solo or in pairs to sled down the approximately 500 -meter route into the valley. In order to make the driving experience even more attractive, the new system will receive an additional second roundabout. A new lift system for backing the sled is operated by a support rope, which enables a quieter and faster availability of the bobs. In addition, all bobs have a driving assistance system for distance control to ensure the safety of passengers.
The Leitner Seilbahn Berlin GmbH has started with the work to build the foundations for the new rail system and to take the first preparatory measures for the technical systems. The reduction of the old route and the demolition of the ticket and company building have already been carried out. The foundations of the former building are renovated and reused for the construction of the mountain and ticket station.
The Kienbergpark will regain a special attraction with the new summer toboggan run. The gardens of the world and the former IGA site are given a highlight through the Natur-Bobbahn that will inspire visitors of all ages.
