New advice center for rainbow families and queer children and adolescents opens in Marzahn-Hellersdorf

In the autumn, a new advice center will open their gates in Marzahn-Hellersdorf, especially for rainbow families and queer children and adolescents. The sponsorship for this facility is adopted by the Lesbian Life Family (Leslefam) Association in cooperation with the Association Queere Diversity (LSVD* e.V.). The financial support for the advice center is granted by the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district office, with a budget of 50,000 euros in 2024 and almost 70,000 euros in 2025.

This new advice center becomes a central point of contact for rainbow families as well as queer children and young people in the region. It offers comprehensive support, advice and help in various areas of life, including legal questions, psychological support, educational offers and social networking. The main goal is to create a safe space in which families and young people feel understood and supported.

By cooperation with the family center of the German Red Cross (DRK), the advice center is optimally integrated into the existing infrastructure. This can ensure a wide range of support offers. In addition, further training and sensitization courses for existing family and youth welfare institutions are to be offered. This initiative shows the commitment of the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district for the promotion and support of the LGBTQIA+community.

Gordon Lemm, district councilor for youth, family and health, emphasized: "The new advice center will offer rainbow families and queer children and young people the support and appreciation that they earn. We are proud to implement this project together with lesbian family e.V. and the LSVD+ e.V. and thus take another step towards an open and tolerant district."

Constanze Körner, Head of Lesben Leben Family e.V., also pleased about the opening of the advice center: "We are enthusiastic that Leslefam e.V. can now take action in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district and, in cooperation with the LSVD+ e.V.

The advice center will thus offer important support for rainbow families and queer children and adolescents as well as to create an inclusive and supportive environment in Marzahn-Hellersdorf.
