International Tolkien reading day with Wieland Freund and Inés Bartel in Berlin
On Monday, March 25, 2024, the district central library Mark Twain invites you to the "International Tolkien read day" in Berlin. This special day, also known as Tolkien Reading Day, is celebrated in libraries, bookstores and other institutions worldwide, for the works of the famous writer J.R.R. To appreciate Tolkien.
J.R.R. Tolkien, born in 1892 and died in 1973, is primarily known for his main works "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings". He was not only a writer, but also an important language and literary scholar. Over 50 of his works have been published so far, and new ones are still being added.
The Tolkien read day takes place every year on March 25, since on this day in the history of Middle-earth who destroys a ring and the dark ruler Sauron is defeated. It is the end of the third age and the beginning of a new year in Gondor.
For this event in Berlin, Wieland Freund, Inés Bartel and other Tolkien fans will read favorite points from the works of Tolkien. Those interested can register with Inés Bartel and contribute a short contribution of a maximum of seven minutes.
