Am Montag, dem 29. April 2024, wurde die Grundsteinlegung für den Neubau der ISS an der Landsberger Straße – der ersten Compartmentschule in Holzbauweise in Berlin – gefeiert. The construction work is part of the type construction program of the HolzCommepervpermannschulen (HOCOMP) and is implemented by the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living.

The decision to build the school in timber construction shows an innovative approach in the educational landscape of Berlin. The use of wood as building material not only has ecological advantages, but can also improve the learning environment for students.
