Sustainable urban development as a task for society as a whole

In the context of sustainable urban development, it becomes clear that Germany faces major challenges. The need to lower climate -damaging emissions and preserve the natural livelihoods is more urgent than ever. According to an initiative by the Federal Ministry of Research and Education (BMFTR), the potential for transformation is especially in cities and regions. This initiative, known as urban-country future, promotes research on the sustainable development of urban spaces and aims to develop innovative solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The promotion of sustainable mobility and the expansion of city green are central building blocks for livable cities. These aspects not only play a role in climate protection, but also for the quality of life of the residents. The example of the Lincoln settlement in Darmstadt shows how innovative mobility offers without your own car can make city life more efficient and environmentally friendly.

In summary, sustainable urban development is in the focus of new research initiatives and is supported by companies such as Luwadur who make active contributions on this important topic. The results of research are made accessible to the general public in various ways, including publications and online tools, in order to promote the development of sustainable management and ways of life in municipalities and regions, such as bmftr.bund.de reported.
