New sports and encounter opportunities in the urban development area Frankfurter Allee Nord enable broad sport in favor of people in the neighborhood.

On Friday, October 6, 2023, the new sports band was officially opened in the Frankfurter Allee Nord urban development area in Berlin. The facility, which is located west of the Howoge Arena "Hans Zoschke" on Ruschestrasse, offers a variety of sports and leisure opportunities for mass sports and school sports. Among other things, there is a 100m sprint railway with a long jump pit, a small playing field with plastic covering, three table tennis panels, fitness equipment, a calisthenics system and bouldering walls for climbing open. The fenced sports area was financed with a total of 1.5 million euros from funding, which come from the urban development program "Sustainable Renewal" and from the federal-state program "Investment pact to promote sports facilities".

The Berlin Senator for Urban Development, Building and Living, Christian Gaebler, emphasized the importance of the new sports band for people in the district. He made it clear that in a growing and condensed city like Berlin, such offers are an important sign that the government will take care of the needs of citizens.

also the district councilor for education, culture and sport, Dr. Catrin Gocksch, emphasized the importance of the sports band. She explained that in Lichtenberg there was previously lacking public sports facilities for popular sports and school sports. Thanks to the extensive funding, it has now become possible to create a system specifically for the non-organized sport and for neighboring schools.

The commissioning of the sports band is also supported by SV Lichtenberg 47, which uses the neighboring "Hans-Zoschke Stadium" and will look after the sports area. In addition to use by SV Lichtenberg 47, the sports band is also available to the general public at certain times. The planning of the sports band cost around 80,000 euros from funds from the urban development program "Sustainable Renewal", while the implementation was financed with around 1.5 million euros from the federal-state program "Investment pact to promote sports facilities".

The opening of the sports band is a gratifying development for the citizens of Lichtenberg. It offers you new opportunities for sporting activities and encounters with other people in the neighborhood. The sports band's offer was obviously received positively and is used intensively. It not only fulfills a need, but also contributes to the upgrading of the Frankfurter Allee Nord.
