Child poverty in Lichtenberg: Companies as mentors

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, the event "Child pooving response in Lichtenberg - Good Practise 2024" took place in the Lichtenberg town hall. The “Company with Class” project was presented, which is intended to facilitate children and adolescents who are affected by poverty. Companies accompany a school class from 7th to 10th grade as part of a mentoring program.

The district councilor for youth, Camilla Schuler from the DIE LINKE party, emphasized the importance of the mentoring program, in which the company directly contact the schools and students: inside. This is an important building block of the Lichtenberg children's poverty -proof strategy in order to support young people in acting self -effective and actively shaping their professional future.

The program includes different action days such as visiting soup kitchens and open house days in companies. The students: Inside, have a permanent contact person to ensure long -term accompaniment and exchange with the companies. In addition, thematically changing workshops on financial skills, sustainable production and joint activities such as sports festivals are offered.

Headmaster Kai Klötzer from the school at the zoo and entrepreneur Andreas Krebs from the management of the Module Special-Tunusstau GmbH reported positively about the experience with the corporate sponsorship at the school, from which both sides can benefit and learn from each other.
