Remember: Memorial event for anonymously buried in Lichtenberg
Every year you have to say goodbye - people who die without relatives and are therefore buried anonymously. Because often the search for relatives remains unsuccessful or they refuse to take responsibility for the final resting place. These sad fates require an orderly burial organized by the authorities without there being a funeral service.
In order to adequately take into account these avoided fates, the district office Lichtenberg cordially invites you to a special commemorative event. On Monday, November 25, 2024 , at 4:00 p.m. in the town hall in Lichtenberg, Möllendorffstraße 6, 10367 Berlin, the anonymously buried neighbors are commemorated in a moving ceremony.
worthy commemoration for forgotten
District Mayor Martin Schaefer from the CDU urgently speaks to the citizens: "Everyone should find their final resting place with dignity and accompanied by shares.
District Councilor Filiz Keküllüoğlu from Bündnis 90/The Greens also emphasizes the importance of a dignified burial: "As a district office, it is very important to us that people whose relatives we could not find a dignified burial. Let us accompany these people on this last trip and in this way say goodbye to our neighbors: inside."
procedure for regulatory burial
If there are no relatives subject to burial and no one else takes over, the burial will be buried by the responsible regulatory office, where the deceased was registered. There are special regulations for deaths without residence in Berlin, which must also be observed.
Usually an orderly burial takes place in the form of an anonymous urn burial in the central cemetery Friedrichsfelde, Gudrunstraße 20, 10365 Berlin. This measure is carried out for the good of the general public for reasons of piety and security.
