Last Kiez Days 2025: Get rid of old clutter in Charlottenburg now!

In the month of October, the last three neighborhood days of 2025 are on the program in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. This initiative is organized by the Education for Sustainable Development (SBNE) department of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district office in close cooperation with the Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) and various neighborhood initiatives. The aim of the Kieztage is to offer residents the opportunity to dispose of broken or no longer needed items free of charge.

The planned dates for the Kieztage are:

  • Samstag, 25. Oktober 2025, 8 bis 13 Uhr am Klausener Platz, 14059 Berlin (in Kooperation mit dem Kiezbündnis Klausener Platz).
  • Montag, 27. Oktober 2025, 8 bis 13 Uhr am Terwielsteig, 13627 Berlin (in Kooperation mit Gewobag).
  • Dienstag, 28. Oktober 2025, 13 bis 18 Uhr am Karl-August-Platz, 10625 Berlin (in Kooperation mit der Stadtteilkoordination Karl-August-Kiez).

Disposal and sustainability

The Kieztage offer residents the opportunity to have a variety of items disposed of, including furniture, carpets, mattresses, electrical appliances and old textiles. However, there are restrictions on certain items that are not accepted, such as construction waste, cast iron bathtubs, car tires, batteries and liquid pollutants. Another innovation is the exchange market on offer, where well-preserved items can be donated and new “treasures” can be found, which is intended to promote sustainability in the neighborhood.

In addition, the public order office will be present to provide information on nature and environmental protection. The SBNE presents its separation mobile there, which supports sustainable events. Those interested can visit the SBNE at sbne@charlottenburg-wilmersdorf.de contact.

Cleanliness in the neighborhood

The Kieztage are part of a broader strategy to promote cleanliness in the living environment. The Berlin city cleaning department organizes these days in collaboration with the district offices to help residents hand over old and broken items quickly and easily to their front door. This should not only help keep the streets clean, but also save you the trip to the recycling center.

A look at the current garbage situation shows that a lot of garbage is found during regular cleanups. Common finds include cigarette butts, bottle caps and disposable cups. But strange objects such as bicycles and even fire extinguishers are also always part of these clean-up operations. In order to promote the good condition of the city, citizens are encouraged to share pictures of their cleanups on social media using the hashtag #SauberesBerlin to raise awareness of the waste problem.

These initiatives show how important community engagement and environmentally conscious actions are in maintaining the quality of life in the city. The district office is available to answer inquiries for neighborhood initiatives planning a BSR neighborhood day in 2026.
