Cologne forum for criticism of journalism: Media in polarized times - understanding and understanding

On May 3rd, the eighth "Cologne Forum for Criticism of Journalism" will take place in the Deutschlandradio-Funkhaus in Cologne. The conference deals with the question of what role media can play in polarized times and how understanding and understanding can succeed. The event consists of two panels and is managed by moderator Christoph Schäfer.

The first panel entitled "Power, Media and People: How does communication in the crisis succeed?" illuminates the current situation and the challenges for the media landscape. Time journalist Yasmine M’Barek, SPD politician Jessica Rosenthal and Annika Sehl, journalism lecturer at the Catholic University of Eichstätt, will discuss this topic together. Annika Sehl also belongs to the Council for the future development of the public service media, which was appointed by the federal states.

The second panel deals with international conflicts and the question of how about Middle East. Moderated by Sina Fröhndrich, discussed Kai Hafez, communications scientist at the University of Erfurt, Christine Kensche, Middle East Correspondent in the World, Nazi Musharbah from the German-Palestinian Society and Deborah Schnabel, director of the Anne Frank educational institution, the various perspectives and challenges.

The "Prize for Freedom of Press and Human Rights" is awarded as a highlight of the event, which is named after the well -known investigative journalist Günter Wallraff. The Initiative News Education e.V. awards the award and the award of the award winner will be announced in the days before the conference. The laudation is kept by Birgit Wentzien, editor -in -chief of Deutschlandfunk.

Deutschlandfunk will be broadcast all program items of the conference via livestream and in the digital radio on the "Deutschlandfunk - Documents and Debates" channel. Further information on the program and the livestream can be found on the Deutschlandfunk website.

The Cologne Forum for Journalism criticism is organized by Deutschlandfunk in cooperation with the editorial team "Opinion & Discourse" and the initiative Newsfehlekung e.V. (INA). The "Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University" is also a partner of the event.
