At this celebration there are numerous activities for children, including bull riding, box climbing and various skill games such as throwing cans and duck fishing. The young visitors are also available to two bouncy castles and a large craft station. For the small and large culinary delights, food stalls with a diverse selection of dishes, including ice cream, fruit, burger, bratwurst and vegan options. Admission is free and registration is not necessary, which makes the event also attractive. Due to a limited parking facilities, a journey by public transport is recommended.

This is also evident in the work of the children's and youth parliament (KJP), which was founded in 2005 and is one of two children's and youth parliaments in Berlin. The headquarters of the KJP is at Strelitzstraße 15, 12105 Berlin. Around 180 members are currently active and have the opportunity to bring their interests and concerns to the district council.

The children's and youth parliament has the task of offering children and adolescents a platform for participating in local politics. Members are elected by schools and youth leisure facilities and can actively help shape topics such as school and leisure equipment or the design of playgrounds. Elections take place annually, and young people up to 21 who attend a school or facility in the district are entitled to vote. Each school or facility can choose two to four representatives.

At the beginning of each election period, there is a constituent session in which the board is elected. This board represents the KJP to the outside world and leads the content work of the parliament. The large parliamentary meetings in the Schöneberg town hall take place at least twice a year and offer the deputies and representatives of the district administration the opportunity to cooperate and discuss.

The KJP has already had many successes, among other things by participating in projects for child and youth participation and children's rights. The work of the parliament is organized by an office, which also acts as a contact point for outsiders. For every regional working group that deals with specific topics, a budget of 500 euros per year is available to implement your own projects.

The commitment of the child and youth parliament of Tempelhof-Schöneberg not only increases awareness of the concerns of young people, but also creates a space for their voices in local politics. Projects that are carried out in cooperation with partners such as the German Kinderhilfswerk e.V.

The offer of the KJPS is further strengthened by events such as today's celebration, and at the same time the joint idea is promoted. The promotion of children's rights and the creation of participation options are crucial steps to strengthen the self -representation of young people in politics.
