New playground opened in Berlin: Citizens' participation and KSSP financing
The district office has created a new playground on the Corinthstraße/Persiusstrasse street corner and recently opened. The planning was based on the wishes of the resident and future users who were determined as part of a citizen participation. Even children were included in the planning via the children's and youth participation office. The costs for the first construction phase, which included the installation of a large climbing tower, was around 155,000 euros. In the second construction phase, other play equipment, a tamping swing, a play kitchen, a carousel and other elements were installed, the total costs were around 255,000 euros. In the fall of 2023 climate silence perennials and geophytes were planted by trainees from the street and green space office. Most of the playground was financed by KSSP funds over two years and in two construction phases.
The creation of this new playground is of great importance for the large district, since open and playing areas for families and children are essential. According to the district councilor for traffic, green spaces, order and environment, Annika Gerold, it is a special reason to open a completely new playground that was shaped by the residents and users.
The playground has a total area of around 1,900 square meters, of which around 1,000 square meters were used for planting with climate silicians perennials and geophytes. There are also chess tables and table tennis panels on the playground.
The costs of the construction phases are listed in the following table:
| Construction phase | Cost |
| ——————- | ————– |
| First construction phase (climbing tower) | approx. 155,000 euros |
| Second construction phase (play equipment, tamping swing, play kitchen, carousel, path and playgrounds) | approx. 255,000 euros |
The playground not only brings joy and fun for the children, but also contributes to the beautification of the district.
