New neighborhood park on Ritterstraße corner Lobeckstrasse opened
The redesigned district park on Ritterstraße corner Lobeckstrasse was reopened after almost two years of construction. The approximately 7,900 square meter green area was fundamentally renewed to create a place of relaxation and leisure activities for all age groups. Annika Gerold, district councilor for transport, green spaces, order and environment, emphasized the importance of the park for the residents and praised the efforts of everyone involved.
The planning of the neighborhood park was based on fundamental wishes and requirements of the residents, which were determined as part of discussions and participation events. Landscape architecture offices were commissioned to implement, with the opinions of children and adolescents into account. The result is a versatile park with playgrounds, seating, a community fountain and various activity options for all age groups.
The costs for the redesign amount to 2.13 million euros and were financed from the Berlin program for sustainable development. The park fulfills important functions as a recreation and movement space as well as as a meeting point for the community.
