New barbecue areas in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg: More space for grill fans

Die Sommerzeit steht vor der Tür und damit auch die Hochsaison für Grillfans in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. In diesem Bezirk sind das Grillen auf insgesamt drei offiziellen Grillflächen erlaubt. One of these areas, the grill meadow on the new grill in the Volkspark Friedrichshain, is being expanded at the start of the season 2024.

46 stone slabs with a size of approx. 40 x 40 cm were recently placed on the large meadow. These stone slabs are numbered and should serve as a fire -proof surface for the grills and at the same time ensure better clarity. In order to use these grill areas, visitors must make a deposit behind the neighboring kiosk. You will receive an aluminum mark that you attach to the grill.

With the expansion of the grill meadow, the number of grill spaces is increased from 30 to 46. From now on it is only allowed to grill on the large meadow. The area of ​​the grill meadow was expanded towards Margarete-Sommer-Straße, whereby care was taken to grant sufficient distance from the trees and sports areas.

The smaller meadow, on which previously you have also been grilled, is now being renatured. The tree -free area is fenced by the neighborhood master and the sign "Grillwiese" is removed.

The booking of the barbecue spaces is made directly on the website of the new grave and the season runs until the end of October.

The measures to expand and improve the barbecue facilities in the Volkspark Friedrichshain are part of the commitment of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office for sustainable and proper use of the public green areas.
