alarm mood in the district! In a brave and determined reaction, the district office raised the protest against the country's investment planning for 2024 to 2028! A dramatic step that makes the citizens listen to and shows how serious the situation is!

The district mayor Clara Herrmann left no doubt in a clear announcement: "The financial situation in Germany is tense. At the same time, the need for modernization of the public infrastructure is enormous." What does that really mean? A devastating standstill in the renovation and modernization could seriously endanger our future viability!

Investments on the peak

The current investment planning of the Senate Department for Finance simply pushes important projects onto the long bank. The urgently needed renovation of the former Kreuzberg town hall in Yorckstrasse is not only delayed, but also threatens to disappear! Herrmann is certain: "The social cohesion on site must not be endangered." It is no secret that the building is an important point of contact for many citizens.

And it gets worse! The design stipulates that the renovation of the office service in Yorckstrasse 4-11 is simply deleted, although the planning was already clear for the start of construction! "The operation of our service location is threatened and we have to worry about the jobs of around 570 employees," warns Herrmann. A total failure of the building and building technology substance could soon become a reality!

The district center Friedrichstrasse 1-3 is not safe! The announced renovation will be postponed from 2028 to 2033. The condition of the building is deteriorating! Rooms have to be blocked, which means that valuable offers have to be restricted or fully discontinued for the citizens! Here the hopes of many people of all ages are suspended for whom this facility is a safe harbor!

The decision of the district office is therefore not only a reaction to numbers and plans, but an outcry for the citizens who rely on functioning, accessible and modern infrastructure! Who will oppose these dramatic developments?
