On May 30, 2024 at 8:15 p.m., ZDF radiates the program "How is Europe? - The big candidate check". The German EU top candidates of the parties represented in the Bundestag are presented. On May 31, 2024, these candidates will also have their say between 5:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. in the "ZDF Morgen Magazine" in "Moma before the election".
The program "How is Europe? - The big candidate check takes place in Berlin and is moderated by Dunja Hayali and Mitri Sirin. The guests are Manfred Weber (CSU), Katarina Barley (SPD), Terry Reintke (Greens), Agnes Strack-Zimmermann (Liberale), Martin Schirdewan (left), Hildegard Bentele (CDU), Fabio de Masi (BSW) and René Aust (AfD). They ask themselves the questions of the moderator team and the audience.
In the program, questions from four large subject areas are asked to filter out the different political concepts of the candidates. This is intended to receive an orientation aid for their voting at the European elections on June 9, 2024.
On May 31, 2024, the "ZDF Morgen Magazine" will also send from Berlin in the "Moma before the election". Moderator Andreas Wunn will interview one of the top German candidates for the European elections every half hour. In addition, ZDF Brussels correspondent Ulf Röller will give assessments on the European elections as a conversation partner on site.
On election Sunday, June 9, 2024, the ZDF will send live from the Berlin television yard from 5:35 p.m. The election evening will lead ZDF editor-in-chief Bettina Schausten and party researcher Karl-Rudolf Korte. The research group elections and ZDF policy chief Matthias Fornoff will deliver all numbers and projections. After the "Today Journal" Bettina Schausten and Matthias Fornoff will report again live from the election studio in Berlin.
Reporting on the European elections on election Sunday is also offered in the ZDF media library with German sign language (DGS).
