In a gripping duel against the Adler Mannheim, the Berliners secured their sixth victory in a row in the German ice hockey league (DEL) and conquered the lead. Before 14,200 enthusiastic fans in the sold -out arena at the Ostbahnhof, the game ended 4: 3 after extra time. Manuel Werlerer snatched the winning goal in overtime, while Frederik Tiffels hit the net twice for the polar bears.
The game started with a strange goal of the guests when Jyrki Jokipakka fired a liberation that hit the goal directly behind Eisbären-Goalie Jake Hildebrand. But the polar bears could not be discouraged: Ty Ronning equalized in double outnumbered, followed by another goal from Tiffels. Despite an interim phase of weakness and two goals from the Mannheimer, the home side managed to compensate for again in the final section through Tiffels and to increase the extension, where the decisive goal finally scored again.
