Outstanding success of the City West Music School in the 2024 competition
At this year's federal competition "Jugend musiciert" in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck, students of the City West music school achieved outstanding results. In the categories Fagott Solo, Horn Solo, Guitar Solo and Duo Piano and a string instrument, a total of six students from the music school took part. A first prize, two second prizes and three third prizes were awarded at the federal level.
District City Councilor Heike Schmitt-Melz congratulated the students and teachers of the music school on this great success and praised the good pedagogical work and the commitment of the highly qualified music school teachers.
A look at the historical meaning of "youth music" shows that the competition has been helping to promote and make young music talents since its foundation in 1963. Many renowned musicians have started their career with “youth music”.
The following table lists some of the previous winners of the competition who later became internationally successful musicians:
| Year | Name | Category | Success |
| —— | —————— | ——– |
| 1975 | Anne-Sophie Mother | Violin | First prize |
| 1988 | Long | Piano | First prize |
| 1994 | Sabine Meyer | Clarinette | First prize |
The results of this year's participation of the City West music school can be viewed on the school's homepage at www.ms-cw.de. It is gratifying to see that young talents are supported and promoted by such competitions in order to further develop their musical potential and to present the public.
