Citizens' forum for milieu protection: Your voice counts on July 16!

On July 11th, 2025, the Reinickendorf district office announced an information event for the residents of the “Lettenplatz” area. This will take place on July 16, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Reginhard primary school in Letteallee 39, 13409 Berlin. District City Councilor Korinna Stephan from Bündnis 90/The Greens will lead the event. The aim is to provide the participants information about the ongoing budget survey on the social conservation regulation, also known as milieu protection.

The survey aims to check whether the area can be preserved as a milieu protection area and whether an extension to neighboring areas would make sense. Representatives of the S.T.E.R.N. GmbH that offer residents support in the completion of the survey. Aids are available in the event of difficulty understanding or health restrictions, and the survey can also be filled out online. Access to the event is barrier -free.

topics of the event

The focus of the event is to check the application requirements of a milieu protection area. Among other things, this includes an analysis of the revaluation potential, the upgrading pressure and the repressed potential. Such social conservation regulations are important in different cities, such as Mainz, where the topic is also up to date. The city council decision 0238/2021 commissioned the city administration to check whether social conservation statutes can be introduced in the districts of Mainz-Neustadt and Mainz-Altstadt. A first preparatory investigation is currently underway there until May 2024 and could pursue similar goals as the Reinickendorfer event.

In Stuttgart, the city administration also becomes active to check measures that could endanger the resident population. Approval measures are clearly defined there, whereby changes such as breakdowns, structural changes or changes in use may only be carried out after prior approval. These regulations are designed to protect the goals of milieu protection and to secure the quality of life in the affected areas.
