Berlin surprised: cheapest library ID in Germany!

The quality of life in cities is a frequently discussed topic, and a current ranking has now caused a stir in Berlin. This investigation, which was carried out by Bookbot, an online second-hand bookseller, compares the costs for library cards in the 20 largest cities in Germany.

There are a total of around 8,860 public and scientific libraries in Germany. These institutions provide citizens to provide information on information from books, magazines and other media. However, the ranking shows that there are significant differences in terms of the costs for a library ID.

The surprising results

In the ranking, Berlin is remarkably at the forefront when it comes to the low costs for a library ID. While the average price in the largest German cities is 23.65 euros per year, the Berliners only have to pay 10 euros to get access to one of the most impressive networks of more than 80 libraries.

In comparison, the costs in Hamburg are highest. There, adults from the age of 27 pay a total of 45 euros a year for their library ID. This fee gives access to 33 libraries and the city's book buses. Bochum, Bonn and Cologne follow with a price of 30 euros, which results in second place behind Hamburg.

Another remarkable detail from the investigation is that children and adolescents receive a free library ID in most cities. You only have to pay a fee of three or six euros in Münster and Hamburg.

Why are such rankings important?

These ranking lists are not only interesting statistics, but also provide valuable information about how cities are compared to each other. The fact that Berlin offers so low prices in the field of library cards could potentially increase the city's attractiveness, especially for families and educational hungry.

According to the examination, it turns out that the differences in the prices have a significant variation, which extends by up to 35 euros between the different cities. Such data make it clear how important it is that citizens have access to educational resources, regardless of their place of residence.
