Berlin: Drivers have to expect annoying closures and traffic restrictions

Berlin drivers have to adapt to further closures and traffic disruptions, as the VIZ traffic information center (VIZ) announced. This means that the drivers already plagued in Berlin have to raise even more patience. According to a report by Berliner Kurier, there are several construction sites and a demonstration that will lead to traffic problems.

One of the road closures concerns Boxhagener Straße in Friedrichshain, where the road is renovated. From Wednesday morning to Friday evening, the road will be closed to car traffic in both directions between the new Bahnhofstrasse and Lenbachstrasse.

A demonstration will take place in the area of Friedrichstrasse (on the Russian house), under the Linden, Schinkelplatz and Werderscher Markt (Federal Foreign Office), which will lead to traffic restrictions. The demo will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Furthermore, construction work on Müllerstrasse in Wedding will begin on Wednesday morning. The lane into the city between Leopoldplatz and Höhe Leopoldplatz will be narrowed onto a lane. This construction site is expected to exist until the end of 2024.

The biggest effects on traffic are expected in Marzahn-Hellersdorf, where two larger construction measures are imminent. Dahlwitzer Straße will be completely closed from Monday, October 30th to Friday, November 3, due to urgently needed renovation measures on the road surface. A detour is set up via Mahlsdorfer Straße, Hönower Straße and the B1/B5, but the bus 941 will be able to drive through the construction site.

Immediately afterwards, on Monday, November 6th, a shaft renovation of the Berlin water operations in the area of Alt-Biesdorf will take place, which requires a full closure of the Märkische Allee downhill ramp on the B1/B5. This blocking should take about ten days. Through traffic on the B1/B5 will be guaranteed, but a spacious bypass is strongly recommended.

These closures and traffic disruptions will undoubtedly be a challenge for the Berlin drivers, as they already have to deal with numerous construction sites and traffic jams. It remains to be hoped that the Transport Information Center (VIZ) provides appropriate diversions and information in order to make the flow of traffic as smoothly as possible.
