Construction site chaos in Steglitz: Klingsorstrasse is completely closed!

In 2023, Klingsorstrasse in Steglitz between Mittelstrasse and Birkbuschstrasse was extensively renovated. This work was necessary to improve the transport infrastructure in the popular district. The civil engineering department is now planning to renovate the next two sections of the road to ensure continuous and safe traffic flow. The detailed planning for the coming construction phases was recently published and work is expected to begin shortly.

The first construction phase includes the renovation between Birkbuschstrasse and Brahmsstrasse. These measures will start on July 28, 2025 and are expected to be completed by August 24, 2025. This will be followed by the second construction phase, which will take place between Brahmsstrasse and Hindenburgdamm. This is planned for the period from August 25, 2025 to September 19, 2025. During this time the road will be completely closed, but pedestrian traffic will remain unaffected by the measures. Brahmsstrasse will remain accessible throughout the entire construction project, and access to the emergency room at the Charité Campus Benjamin Franklin will be ensured via a temporary traffic light system, as berlin.de reports.

Additional construction sites and traffic adjustments

In parallel to the above-mentioned renovation work, Klingsorstrasse in Steglitz will also be completely closed between Telramundweg and Amfortasweg. This closure is necessary to replace a 40 cm thick storm drain over a length of 55 meters. The construction work for this will begin on April 10, 2025 and should be completed by June 23, 2025, as can be read in archiv.berliner-verkehr.de.

Traffic diversions will be set up in a clockwise direction via Hindenburgdamm, Wolfensteindamm and Birkbuschstrasse. A reverse diversion takes place via Birkbuschstrasse, Gelieurstrasse and Hindenburgdamm. However, pedestrians and cyclists can pass through the construction site, ensuring public access to the surrounding areas.

Measures are also required to make adjustments to local public transport: The BVG bus line 283 will be rerouted, which will eliminate all stops on Klingsorstrasse and Hindenburgdamm. Instead, additional stops will be set up on Birkbuschstrasse at Oberlinstrasse, Haydnstrasse and Klingsorstrasse in order to continue to offer passengers a good service.

The planned renovations and adjustments to Klingsorstrasse are part of a comprehensive plan to modernize the transport infrastructure in Steglitz. During implementation, attention will be paid to minimizing disruption to residents and passers-by.
