Tree Disc Festival 2025: The most beautiful gardens at a glance! Be there!

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the Schönevibes Collective e.V. invites you to a special event in Berlin-Schöneweide: the third tree disc festival. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the market square on Greek Allee will be the stage for a festival that honors the city's most beautiful small gardens while strengthening community. The focus is on honoring the tree discs lovingly designed by local residents.

The Treptow-Köpenick district office informs that everyone who cares for a tree slice or appreciates the green corners in the neighborhood is warmly invited to take part and submit their creative contributions in the form of pictures. Registration for the competition takes place online at hallo@schönevibes.de until September 13, 2025.

Diverse activities for all generations

Visitors can look forward to a colorful program that not only includes a tree cutting competition, but also various workshops. This includes, for example, the creative production of herbal salt. Participatory activities are also offered for both young and old. A special highlight is the tree disc talk, where the focus is on exchange and shared ideas.

To crown the competition, there will be an awards ceremony at which the coveted “Golden Garden Gnome” will be awarded to the winners. This remains in the possession of the respective winner until the next competition. A cash payment of the winnings is not possible in this competition, so the focus is entirely on the enjoyment of the competition.

History and meaning of the tree disc festival

The origin of the tree disc festival is closely linked to the legalization of planting and edging tree discs in the Treptow-Köpenick district. This was achieved through an initiative by local residents. Since 2013, the festival has been held annually after the summer holidays to promote the care of street trees. There are currently around 60 well-maintained beds in the neighborhood that offer a wide range of botanical diversity.

The event is decentralized and non-commercial, meaning there are no stand fees. Donations from the sale of food and drinks go towards replacing dilapidated street trees. In previous years, the festival was very popular and attracted several thousand visitors who took part in over 100 individual events.

The Tree Disc Festival has established itself as a valuable platform for networking between old and new in the neighborhood. It also promotes the integration of new residents, including refugees, and supports joint actions in the interests of the community.

Support is provided by the Agenda Fund for the implementation and organization of the festival. The Schönevibes collective also plans to add a central neighborhood bed this year and improve the infrastructure for future events.

Visit the Tree Disc Festival and experience a beautiful autumn afternoon together with residents, artists and businesses.
