Departure into the Euroleague: FCB and Alba start with big destinations!

The basketball sensation of Europe is just around the corner! The Euroleague starts a breathtaking season on Thursday, which is particularly in the spotlight for the two German heavyweights, Alba Berlin and FC Bayern Munich. The Munich team have a big goal in mind: the playoffs have to be achieved! In the new SAP Garden, things go straight to the highly favored Champions League star Real Madrid, and the basketball world watches excited! The ball rolls at 8 p.m.

The honorary president of Bayern, Uli Hoeneß, is enthusiastic about the ice hockey start in the new multifunctional arena and sees it a chance for the basketball department: "I hope that the positive development of basketball in this hall leads us into a new era." His President Herbert Hainer sounds even more determined and clearly demands: "This year the goal is to reach the playoffs. Anything else would be a disappointment!"

The big challenge for Alba Berlin

But not only Bayern are under high tension! Alba Berlin, last season at the bottom of the table, also suffered a serious loss - the national player Johannes Thiemann is missing due to injury. "We have a lot of construction sites," says Magenta Sport expert via Günther and emphasizes the indoor problem in Berlin. "It seems that the focus was somewhere else and not on how to get from 5 to 7 victories." In fact, the Berliners are facing major challenges if they initiated Panathinaikos Athens against the title winner on Thursday, live and free of charge from 6:15 p.m. After all, the Athenians only won the title in the German capital a few months ago and are definitely not an easy opponent!

But the new figurehead of Alba, Louis Olinde, is combative: "We are ready, we have a great team and the mood in the Uber Arena is simply the best!" With his optimistic view, he also counts the home strength as an advantage over the opponent from Munich.

A look at the Euroleague staff

The Euroleague is again accompanied by a first -class editorial team, which has recently been awarded the "German TV Award". Names such as Per Günther, Alex Vogel and Pascal Roller ensure exciting analyzes, while the commentators Michael Körner and Basti Ulrich vigorously accompany the games. The first six teams qualify directly for the playoffs, while places 7 to 10 have to fight for quarter -final participation. And one thing is certain: Magenta sport shows every game live!
