On the musical journey: special train Goethe” from Brussels to Bielefeld!

On October 9, 2025, a special event entitled “The UnterTon makes the music!” took place at the Goethe Institute in Brussels. instead of. This was part of the “Week for German” and offered an exciting program that combined musical and thematic elements. The duo “Adrenaline & Placebo” accompanied the event, which attracted numerous visitors, including translators, EU bureaucrats and handbag lovers. The evening lasted about an hour and offered insights into observations during the trip to the German East.

A special train organized as part of the event, named after Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and run by “Deutsche Wahn AG”, attracted a lot of attention. The train attendants were BanJoe Combüchen, who performed guitar and vocals, and Constanze Schwarzer, who delighted the audience with her accordion and vocals. However, the arrival and departure times of the special train were given as rough estimates, leading to some uncertainty about the final station, Bielefeld.

Diversity of content

The content of the event included thematic songs by Combüchen as well as creative commercials, which served as a central theme throughout the program. Special topics such as “Made in Germany” and German federalism were discussed. In addition, encounters in the virtual train compartment were discussed, where, among other things, Homo Sapiens first class and characteristics such as helper star syndrome were discussed.

The next deployment of the special train is already planned for October 31, 2025 in Bad Neuenahr and promises a continuation of the cultural exchange that is promoted by such initiatives.

Musical support from the Goethe Institute

The Goethe-Institut plays an important role in promoting musical life in Germany and beyond. It initiates annual music projects ranging from tours and concerts to master classes and workshops. “A large part of the Goethe-Institut’s music programs are created in collaboration with local partners such as festivals, concert halls or clubs,” explains the institute. This supports both professional musicians and young and amateur musicians.

The funding extends not only to German musicians, but also to talents from developing and transition countries, who often suffer from a lack of training centers and suitable music teachers. There are many musical talents in these countries who are supported through targeted funding.

In addition, the Goethe-Institut's projects help to promote exchange between artists at home and abroad and to convey a current picture of German musical life. Around 1,000 music projects take place every year, covering all musical styles, from early music to electronica and new music. This diversity reflects the richness of the German music scene and ensures lively cultural interaction.
