Experts from the renowned eco-institute gathered to discuss burning questions about the sustainable use of plastics, textiles and urban mining. In Germany, gigantic potential is slumbering: Around 52 billion tons of material are installed in our cities! But how do we deal with these valuable resources? And what about the textile industry? Every year, 12 million tons of textiles land on the market, with a significant part ending on landfill or incineration plants. "We have to act!" Said Clara Löw, scientist at the eco-institute.
Political and economic measures are required - from sustainable design to innovative business models that rely on reuse and repairs, to infrastructures for an effective collection and recycling of old textiles.
