Zia President Mattner calls for the household blockdown: secure general interest and create an apartment area

Today, the Central Immobilien Kreinch e.V. (ZIA) has called on to concentrate in the debate about the distribution of the future on core fields of general interest. Zia President Dr. Andreas Mattner emphasized the importance of sufficient living space for living together in the city. The discussions about a financial reorganization in the country and the persistent problems with regard to living space and lack of housing also hit Berlin particularly hard. There is an acute lack of affordable living space in the capital, and prices are increasing steadily. According to a current forecast of the ZIA, up to 830,000 apartments in Berlin could be missing in Berlin.

The situation is reminiscent of an American budget blockdown, and politics is required to support intelligent measures that amortize themselves promptly and wash back money through tax revenue in state funds. Mattner emphasized the central accents of the climate and transformation fund (KTF) and the need to cope with the costs of the energy transition. He also suggested that KfW interest resources use for investments in housing to create additional living space.

Such measures are urgently necessary in Berlin, since rental prices are continuously increasing and living space becomes increasingly scarce. The creation of affordable living space should therefore be a top priority to strengthen social cohesion in the city. Additional living space would not only improve the quality of life of Berlin citizens, but also help to stabilize the rising rental prices.

The lack of housing in Berlin is a long -term problem that is tightened by a high demand on the housing market and a continuing construction boom in the city. Historical figures show that the need for living space in Berlin has risen continuously over the past few decades, while the construction activity could not keep up.

So it is time for politics and the real estate industry to work together to find intelligent and sustainable solutions for the lack of housing in Berlin. Table 1 shows the development of the lack of housing in Berlin in the past 10 years.

** Table 1: Development of the lack of housing in Berlin **

| Year | Missing apartments |
| —— | ——————– |
| 2013 | 200,000 |
| 2015 | 300,000 |
| 2017 | 500,000 |
| 2020 | 700,000 |
| 2023 | 830,000 |

It is important that politics is now acting and supports measures to create affordable living space in order to improve the quality of life of Berlin citizens. The lack of housing may no longer be ignored, because enough living space is an essential for living together in the city.
