USA and Germany: Is the pressure on Israel ahead?

USA and Germany: Is the pressure on Israel ahead?

A huge bang from the heart of politics! The United States has sent a clear message: the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip must be ended. In a powerful letter to Israel's government, Foreign Minister Antony and Defense Minister Lloyd Austin have announced their concern about the devastating conditions in the Gaza Strip. But that's not all! Their warning is unmistakable: If the controversial laws on the UNRWA, the UN Palestinian aid work, are adopted, the United States may be under pressure to suspend its military aid for Israel. A move that could mix the cards in the region completely again!

On Monday evening, the Israeli parliament passed a controversial draft law with an overwhelming majority - a law that the Unrwa entirely prohibits in Israeli territory. But what does that mean specifically? Israel not only controls the borders, but also has countless checkpoints in the West Bank. One could say that the term "Israeli territory" is misleading here! In fact, the work of the Unrwa in Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem is made impossible. The human rights officer Luise Amtsberg has clearly expressed it: this decision will have catastrophic consequences!

Humanitarian catastrophe in sight!

The already precarious humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is on the edge of the abyss! The upcoming laws come into force in three months and the expectation is clear: the situation will continue to deteriorate. The people in the region have already suffered a lot! But what will happen? The USA and Germany, which traditionally are the largest armaments suppliers of Israel, are now seeing themselves at a turning point. Will you finally put real pressure on the Netanyahu government? That could change the fate of thousands of people!

Berlin has the potential to rethink the association agreement with Israel. And Washington? If the military aid is withdrawn, the message would be clear: it cannot go on like this! If not now, when? Time is pushing and the public looks forward to the next steps of the international community!
