Environmental media prize 2023: Local votes for climate protection excellent

The big spectacle around the 2024 environmental media price! For the 29th time, the German Environmental Aid (DUH) has organized the glamorous award ceremony in the championship in Berlin. Here the best heads of the media landscape are honored, which are passionate about information about our environment, the climate and nature. A real festive evening for environmental protection!

in a world that is increasingly drawn by extreme weather and species death, the voice of environmental journalists is getting louder. Prof. Margit Mönnecke, the blunt federal chairman of the DUH, summed it up: "The environmental problems are increasing. But political power games are pushing topics such as nature and climate protection into the background." In such critical times, the winners of the environmental media award are indispensable! They illuminate the urgency of the challenges and ask us to become active.

The winners in the spotlight

A highlight of the gala was the award of the journalist Dr. Ute Scheub and geographer Stefan Schwarzer in the text category. Their impressive book "Rooming up against the drought" brings Klipp and clearly a decisive option against the climate crisis: climate landscapes. A brilliant performance in the fight against the consequences of climate change!

The Audio category crowned the outstanding group of three around Sandra Pfister, Jule Reimer and Georg Ehring, who caused 25 minutes a day with their program "Environment and Consumers" on Deutschlandfunk. Information and insights into important environmental and consumer protection issues- a pleasure for the ears every day!

Another star-occupied winner: Michael Höft, who, with his shook documentation "LNG at all costs", shows how the USA suffers from the pressure of our fluid gas hunger. For this he is honored in the video category - a courageous look at what happens behind the scenes of our energy hunger.

life's work and audience award

In an emotional moment, the journalist and author Christiane Grefe was honored for her life's work. "Your profound climate and environmental journalism has shaped the German media landscape," emphasized Margit Mönnecke full of respect. Her commitment is a ray of hope in the middle of the challenges that the climate crisis presents us.

The audience was not idle either! A audience award was awarded for the seventh time. After an exciting online vote, the people of "Plantfluencer" Robinga chose sneering trees, who inspires the flora and fauna with his creative content. Marisa Becker were also nominated with "MySustainableme" and the team behind the Instagram channel "Sustainable. A sign that environmental protection can also be fun!
