Road safety in danger: Trees in Treptower Park must be felled
In the coming week, the road and green space office will take measures to ensure traffic safety in Treptower Park. Specifically, two trees should be felled because they are a security risk due to intensive rot in the trunk foot. The felling action is planned for the period from 18 to April 20, 2024 and affects an elm with a circumference of 112 cm and a height of 11 m as well as an oak with an impressive amount of 313 cm and a height of 25 m.
The decision to make trees in public space is always associated with regret, but is in the interest of the security of the population. An impaired tree can cause serious damage, especially if it is in a well -visited park like the Treptower Park. Those responsible for the road and green space office have therefore taken the necessary measures to minimize potential dangers.
Historically, trees have always played an important role in the design of parks and the city landscape. They serve as oxygen producers, shadow donors and habitat for different animal species. Nevertheless, it is sometimes inevitable to fell trees to ensure the security of the public.The planned felling of the two trees in Treptower Park shows how important it is to carry out regular controls and maintenance measures for urban trees.
