The initiative for expanding the offer of bicycle parking systems meets a recommendation from the district assembly, which wanted to advance the planning and implementation of bicycle parking systems and wanted to include the citizens in the process. The participation project is long -term so that suggestions can be submitted continuously and checked every six months. The structural implementation of the bicycle parking systems is expected to begin in 2025. District City Councilor Dr. Claudia Leistner emphasizes the importance of sufficient parking spaces for a bicycle-friendly Treptow-Köpenick and calls on all citizens as well as children and adolescents to work.
It is expected that the creation of additional bicycle parking systems will further increase the attractiveness of the district for cyclists and that traffic safety can be increased. By integrating the citizens into the planning process, the implementation of needs can be guaranteed.
