Laying the foundation for extension elementary school on the Püttbergen
On March 4, 2024, the foundation stone was celebrated in Berlin-Rahnswinkel for the extension of the elementary school on the Püttbergen. The new building will add a modern scientific wing, an art and music sector, a cafeteria and a elevator to the existing school. This makes the school upgraded both spatially and pedagogically and made accessible.
The primary school on the Püttbergen, which currently attend around 597 students, consists of the school building, a sports hall and a temporary container system. The old farm building, which was known as the "crumbly school", was demolished in 2023 to make room for the three -storey expansion building. With the expansion, the school's capacity is increased from 3.0 to 4.0 trains.
The extension is designed according to modern technical and pedagogical standards. The premises are restructured according to the needs of the students in order to promote interdisciplinary cooperation. Construction costs amount to 17,170,000 euros and are financed from the state of Berlin. The new building is expected to be completed at the end of 2026, while the outdoor facilities will be completed in spring 2027.
The laying of the foundation stone was accompanied by Treptow-Köpenick's district mayor Oliver Igel and district councilor Marco Brauchmann. Both emphasized the importance of the construction project for the quality of education and the future viability of the district. The extension of the elementary school on the Püttbergen becomes a modern and attractive place of learning for all students.
In view of the growing school space requirement in Rahnsdorf, the expansion of the elementary school on the Püttbergen is an important step in order to cover the need for education in the region and create a contemporary learning environment for children.
