Large raid against money competition devices in Berlin - 44 devices confiscated

On Tuesday, the Berlin police carried out a large-scale deployment in the Berlin urban area, in which a total of 31 permanent establishments were searched together with the Treptow-Köpenick Ordnungsamt and the tax office for corporations II. The suspicion of manipulation of money spectacle devices led to this campaign, in which 44 money competition devices of a specific manufacturer were confiscated and removed for further investigations.

The targeted planning and quick implementation enabled the approximately 170 emergency services to search all operating facilities at the same time and to remove the devices within three hours. Previous findings by the Finance and Ordnungsamt in Treptow-Köpenick indicated that the data records of the accounting systems of the devices concerned had been intervened. It is believed that these manipulations could have taken place on a large scale, which justified the search resolution.

The investigation into possible manipulation of the money competition devices is still ongoing and it remains to be seen which further results the authorities will achieve.

In terms of local effects, the perception of arcades and gambling transactions in the Berlin city area could be influenced. The action could also lead to other operators of money competition devices in the region check and strengthen their security measures in order to avoid similar problems

A historical context could indicate the increased efforts of the authorities to combat illegal gambling activities in Germany as a whole. In recent years, the authorities have increasingly focused on the regulation and monitoring of the gambling sector to ensure transparency and security for consumers.

A table with information on known cases of manipulation of money spectacle devices in the past and the resulting consequences could offer a comparison to similar incidents and underline the seriousness of the current case.
