Memory of the forgotten: Invitation to Silent Prayer in Berlin

On November 5, 2024 at 6 p.m. there will be a moving evening in Berlin that touches the hearts! The church to the father's house, in Baumschulenstrasse 82-83, becomes the setting for a venerable commemoration. The Evangelical parish to the father's house and the district office Treptow-Köpenick cordially invite all citizens to join this unique moment of commemoration.

Every year there are people whose fate remains quiet and urgent. They die without relatives, often forgotten from society. In these cases, the health department initiates the so -called regulatory burial - a last trip without flowers, without tears, without honoring words. This leaves painful loneliness that nobody should experience.

a sign of solidarity

This important commemoration is not only a memory, but also a powerful statement of solidarity! It shows that nobody should be left alone in his last hour. District Mayor Oliver Igel sums it up: "It is our social responsibility, including those who are buried without relatives and funeral service." This is a request to act, an invitation to empathy!

District Councilor Dr. Claudia Leistner adds: "Every deceased person has the right to a worthy burial, regardless of their life situation or the existing financial means." This illustrates the ethical mandate that the community has in itself. The district assumes responsibility to ensure that nobody is buried anonymously and without respect. A strong sign that concerns all of us!

pause and commemorate

During this prayer, which contains both Christian and Muslim elements, the space will be fulfilled of awe and thoughtfulness. The commemoration is an opportunity to pay the unknown, the forgotten, respect. Everyone present is invited to share their memories and honor the deceased.

One could say that this evening will not only recognize a celebration of the life of the deceased, but also a call to our society, the value of each individual. Take part and show your support for a community that takes care of the weakest members! On this special evening, people come together to connect and commemorate each other.
